8th August, 2013: Located in Old Delhi, Masjid-i Jahān-Numā (World-reflecting Mosque) popularly known as Jama Masjid is one of the oldest and largest mosques in the world. My visit to this mosque was during the holy month of Ramzan. My decision to walk to Jama Masjid which was around 4km away from my hotel at Arakashan Road proved to be disastrous. Thanks to the hot and humid Delhi summer, I was dead tired when I reached the mosque. I was severely out of breath after climbing the 121 steps of the minaret. (I must admit that my fitness level was at rock bottom those days.)

Even though entry is free, 300 Rs. for photography and another 100 Rs. for getting on top of the minaret makes this place the most expensive monument to visit in Delhi. Footwear needs to be removed before entering the mosque, so additional money needs…
